DESCRIPTION:Wilderness First Responder (WFR) is the definitive course in medical training for outdoor educators\, guides\, SAR team members\, and others who work or play in remote areas. The curriculum is comprehensive and practical\, including all of the essential principles and skills required to assess and manage medical problems in isolated and extreme environments. The Hybrid 5-day format is for individuals and sponsors with less time available for on-site training and requires 30 hours of pre-course preparation. Students must register at least 3 weeks before the course date. All students must complete all pre-course e-learning prior to arrival on course.\nThis course covers the same material and meets the same criteria as the standard Wilderness First Responder. It is designed for students and professionals who have tight schedules and the self-discipline to complete approximately 30 hours of pre-course preparation. Students will have access to the WFR Study Guide two to four weeks before the course starts. They are required to complete the assigned reading\, case studies\, study guide\, and tests. The on-site instruction that follows reinforces and expands on the knowledge already acquired. Because students arrive familiar with the didactic material\, on-site daytime training can focus on wilderness and rescue scenarios and practical skills. Evenings are reserved for study and assignments. Expect rescue scenarios with made-up victims and simulated wounds to prepare you for backcountry emergencies. Sessions may be videotaped for enhanced learning. Conscientious preparation\, studying\, and time prior to the course is essential for success.  \nMust be 18 years old for the 5 day course.  Course will meet at 8am day one and the remaining schedule will be determined then. Concessions otherwise are on your own.\nThis event is a chance for all families who are raising children that are not their biological children to attend an event with children and families who may be experiencing like situations.\nWho’s Invited? – All Kinship\, Foster care\, Adoptive\, Guardianship\, DPOA families…and more (if you’re raising a child that isn’t yours\, you and the family are invited!) (We will be reaching out to each family individually to obtain demographics and documentation showing placement)\nWe are also encouraging this event to help families make connections (if you want) with other families in our local area who you could use as a support system/respite in times of need.\nSeating is limited to 218 people so RSVP is required We encourage you to bring your ENTIRE family to this event and let us know how many kids as all children will leave with a Christmas Present. (Also encouraged is parenting time/sibling visits etc.!)\nSpecial guests’ appearances may occur by some pretty cool folks. Currently\, we have the GRINCH\, SANTA\, MRS. CLAUSE\, and ELVES on standby.
