6-Week Wheel Class (Evening Session, First Day)
Have you always wanted to learn how to create your own pottery on the wheel? Come join us!
Throughout this course, you’ll learn the fundamentals of a pottery wheel practice, including:
* Centering & throwing on the pottery wheel
* Trimming & adding handles
* Recycling your clay
* Surface decoration & glazing techniques
Already have some wheel experience? We’re happy to help you design a personalized plan for your 6-week session to challenge your skills — think tall vases, lidded jars, altered forms, and more. Let’s make this your most creative session yet!
By the end of the session, you’ll have a great understanding of how to create pieces in your own style and feel confident to start creating on your own during walk-in hours, as a Clayworks member in our studio, or at home with your own equipment.
First Class Session: Wednesday, January 21
Final Class Session: Wednesday, February 25
Weekly Session Info: Wednesdays, 6:00PM-8:00PM
All wet-clay work will be completed by Sunday, March 1.
Glazing will likely be completed at a later date, during open studio hours (included).
You don’t need to bring anything to class – access to all materials, tools, and equipment is provided as part of your $350 registration.
This includes:
* 2 hours/week of class time (instruction, demonstrations, feedback)
* Studio access for the duration of the session – access during building hours of 9am-9pm lets you come in to practice on your schedule.
* Lots of clay for practice
* Glazing & firing for up to 6 projects
* Access to studio equipment and studio tools for class
Like more than 6 of your creations? Keep additional pieces for $15/piece
We have a fun and laid-back atmosphere, while also providing a ton of great information and experience. We learn from each other! Our clay class sizes for the pottery wheel are never more than 8 people, so it’s easy to get lots of feedback and help.
This class is geared towards adult students.
Younger students will have a more difficult time, but we can accommodate interested & motivated teens.
